I recently moved to the foot of the Appalachian Mountains in Southwest Virginia. I’ve been fascinated with the history and lore of moonshining since I was a child. When I moved here I found that this area has the distinction of being the moonshine capital of the world. As I walked the woods around my home, I came across the remains of old moonshine stills. I decided to build a site to record what I found in the woods and to explore the history of moonshine in the Appalachians.
